5 things to do before you launch your online store

Publishing your store is exciting — and it’s tempting to hit that button the moment your products are uploaded. Before you do, run through this short checklist. It takes about twenty minutes and it’s the difference between a store that looks ready and one that quietly loses a sale.

1. Check your product photos on a phone, not a laptop

Most of your buyers will open your store on their phone. A photo that looks sharp on a desktop screen can look dark, blurry, or badly cropped on mobile. Open your store preview on your own phone and scroll through your top ten products. Fix anything that looks unclear — a product a buyer can’t see clearly is a product they won’t buy.

2. Get your prices and stock right — twice

Nothing damages trust faster than a customer ordering something that’s actually out of stock, or a price that’s wrong. Before launch:

  • Double-check prices for every variant (size, color) — not just the main product.
  • Confirm your stock numbers actually match what’s in your warehouse today.
  • If something isn’t ready to sell yet, mark it as a draft rather than publishing it with a placeholder price.

3. Fill in your store’s basic pages

Buyers look for a few things before they trust a new store enough to pay: an About page that tells them who you are, a Contact page with a real phone number or WhatsApp, and a clear returns or exchange policy. These don’t need to be long — three or four honest sentences each is enough. An empty About page reads as “not a real business” even when you are one.

4. Decide how you’ll get paid — and test it

DiGiMaker supports both online payments through Razorpay and Cash on Delivery. Before you launch:

  • If you’re using Razorpay, place one small test order yourself and confirm the payment reaches you correctly.
  • If you’re offering Cash on Delivery, make sure your delivery areas are set up so buyers outside your service range don’t get surprised at checkout.

5. Tell people before you go live — even a little

A store with zero orders on day one isn’t a failure, it’s just quiet. Give your launch a small push:

  • Share your store link on your existing WhatsApp Business or personal number.
  • Post it once on whatever social profile your business already has.
  • If you have existing customers from offline sales, let them know they can now order directly from your own site.

You don’t need a big campaign. You need your first ten buyers to know the store exists.

The five-minute version

If you only have five minutes: check your photos on a phone, confirm your prices and stock, and place one test order. Everything else can be improved after launch — those three cannot.
